Spanish Springs clinched is ninth straight league title and 54th straight dual victory in convincing fashion with a 62-15 win at North Valleys on Wednesday night.
The Cougars improved to 4-0 in High Desert League duals with just one remaining, at home against Reed next Wednesday.
“It’s a good feeling,” Spanish Springs coach Joe Imelli said. “It is absolutely a happy feeling, but not a satisfied feeling. If we do not prepare for next week in Reed, to be honest with you, it’ll feel like a failure.
“It doesn’t do us justice just to say this is it.”

The Cougars benefited from four forfeits (113, 120, 220, 285+) but also finished with four wins by fall.
Reece Masset (126) needed just 49 seconds to pin his opponent, Cole Drescher (152) stuck his guy 52 seconds into the second round, Jacob Dye (160) had his hand raised by the official after 1:22 of wrestling in the second round and Casey Preston (195) ended things with 10 seconds remaining in the first round.
“I thought we had some good matches in there and some kids wrestled tough,” Imelli said.
North Valleys got six points from a Spanish Springs forfeit at 170 and point victories at 145 and 182.
The Cougars will now wrap up the regular season at home against Reed and take the following week over before hosting the regional meet Feb. 12-13.
Imelli said he wasn’t too concerned about a letdown against the Raiders with the league title already secured.
“The mentality of our kids taking care of seeding,” he said. “It’s a neat atmosphere … I don’t think that (losing) is something we’re going to look at.”
Raiders fall on Senior Night
The Reed wrestlers dropped to 1-3 in HDL duals with a 62-19 home loss to Reno (3-1) on Wednesday night.
Chase Heit (145) won by fall, Izzy Casarez (138) won 16-7 and Austyn Martinez (126) edged out a 7-5 victory for the Raiders’ only wins. Reno also forfeited the heavyweight match.
All of Reed’s losses were by fall.
Reed puts a bow on the regular season next Wednesday night at Spanish Springs.
