Notable moves
-OF A.J. Pollock, 28, was added to Reno on a Major League rehab assignment. Pollock appeared in 157 games for the Diamondbacks in 2015 but has been on the disabled list since early April with a fractured elbow. Pollock appeared in his first game on Saturday, going 1-for-3 with a double, RBI and a run in a 7-3 win over Sacramento at Greater Nevada Field.
-LHP Adam Loewen, 32, cleared waivers and was sent outright to Reno. Loewen appeared in eight games for Arizona this year (six innings), allowing 10 runs on six hits (15.00 ERA). In 34 games with Reno, Loewen has compiled a 3.52 ERA and a 3-2 record.
-OF Socrates Brito, 23, was optioned from Arizona to Reno. Brito has spent time back and forth between the bigs and Triple-A this year. In Arizona, Brito has appeared in 19 games, going 10-for-54 (.185) with two home runs, five RBIs and 16 strikeouts. In 61 games with Reno, Brito is batting .282 with five home runs and 31 RBIs.
Who’s hot?
-Jack Reinheimer. In his last 11 games, the Aces’ shortstop is 18-for-42 (.429), including three triples. He hit a pair of three baggers on Saturday, becoming the 10th player in franchise history with two triples in one game.
Who’s not?
-Jimmie Sherfy. Reno’s closer has been lights out since joining the club, but blew the second save of his Triple-A career on Sunday. Sherfy took over in the top of the ninth after Reno scored five times in the eighth to take a 9-7 lead against Sacramento. He only recorded one out, and left with the Aces trailing 11-9, the big blow being a three-run bomb around the right field pole off the bat of Travis Ishikawa.
