As you prepare to let go of 2016 and welcome in 2017, you might as well do it in style in Sparks. There are plenty of options for adults depending on whether you want to dance the night away Studio 54- style at Great Basin, flirt in a mask of secrecy at The Elbow Room Bar’s Masquerade Ball, or fall into a fit of laughter watching The Dan Band.
Or if you want to involve the kids to ring in the New Year (or simply embrace your kid-at-heart), check out the glow bowling packages at the Coconut Bowl or Amplify Your Flight New Year’s Party by bouncing on the wall-to-wall trampolines to DJ’s at the Fly High Trampoline Park.
Sparks New Year’s Eve Events:
New Year’s Eve at the Nugget Casino Resort, 9 p.m.: If you want to welcome 2017 with a few laughs, then consider catching it with the comedic musicians in The Dan Band. Playing a sleazy singer in movies such as Old School, Starsky & Hutch and The Hangover, lead singer Dan Finnerty delights crowds at sold-out venues across the country with this infamous and/or inappropriate renditions of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “I Am Woman”. Tickets range from $20-$50. This show is for those 21 and up due to possible adult content.
Amplify Your Flight Night New Year’s Party at the Fly High Trampoline Park, 9 p.m.: This is be sure to be a night to remember for those of all ages invited to partake in four hours of extreme jumping and dancing to the rockin’ hits of Amplified Entertainment deejays. Zack Crave Gomez and Stephen DjEyeque Rivera will be playing blends of Top 40, EDM, Latin, hip-hop and other music while adults and kids can jump the night away on Fly High’s wall-to-wall trampolines, foam pit, and air bags.
The Get Down 2017 at Great Basin Brewery, 10 p.m.: Throwback to the days of Studio 54 at this glamorous and glitzy New Year’s party with Mojo Green. At Nevada’s oldest brewery on 846 Victorian Avenue location, Mojo Green will be throwing down their heavy horn soul and funk that everyone can get down to followed by a complimentary champagne toast at the start of the New Year. Tickets are $22 in advance or $27 the day of the show.
New Year’s Eve at the Coconut Bowl, open until 1:30 a.m.: Drop the ball with those over at Wild Island for an evening of bowling and entertainment with your closest friends. A 6-person package to ring in the New Year East Coast-style or West Coast-style includes two or three hours of glow bowling, specialty pizza, a pitcher of soda, party favors, water park season pass raffles, and a champagne/apple cider toast for $99.99.
Big Heart Masquerade Ball New Year’s Eve 2017 at The Elbow Room Bar, 8 p.m.: Count down to the New Year in style at this traditional masquerade ball with a Big Heart twist. The rock n’ roll band plays danceable tunes such as “Whiskey Guitar” and “All Good Today” so feel free to let loose and boogie the night away before enjoying a champagne toast and mask reveal at midnight.
New Year’s Day Event for Teens:
New Year’s Day Lock In at the MTC, 8:30 p.m.: Teens are invited to celebrate the first day of 2017 with a Lock IN! Those ages 12-18 have the opportunity to pull an all-nighter with games, food, and fun with friends. This event will be held at the MTC (More Than Conquerors) Pentecostal Church on 3175 Goldy Way in Sparks.
