Reed’s KC Daylo fires tournament-low score for second-straight week
Reno improved to 3-for-3 in High Desert League tournaments on Tuesday afternoon, claiming first place at Washoe by 22 strokes.
The largest change, from the team competition, was who finished second. Reed was the runner-up in the first two tournaments of the season at Wildcreek and Somersett, but Spanish Springs leapfrogged the Raiders on Tuesday.
Reno (409) clinched at least a share of the league title with the win (Reed won the HDL last year). Spanish Springs (431) was eight strokes better than Reed (439). McQueen (480) finished fourth in front of North Valleys (521). As has been the case all season, Hug did not have enough golfers to turn in a team score.
Reed’s KC Daylo was the outright medalist last week at Somersett after shooting a 74. He earned medalist honors again on Tuesday, but had to share. He turned in a 79, as did Reno’s Lucas Colfer and Tommy Zumtobel.
Austin Woods led the Cougars with an 82. Chase Martin (84), Pat Penrod (84), Payne Avera (89), and Logan Cox (92) rounded out Spanish Springs’ team card.
Behind Daylo, Brandon Forman (84) and Cade Baker (87) both went sub-90 for the Raiders. Jimmy Harris (90) and Scott Walsh (93) followed.
The HDL circuit continues next Tuesday at Sierra Sage – the home course for North Valleys. Reno can clinch the outright league title with a win.
