Raiders win 13th straight
Julia Jensen struck out 11 and allowed just two hits in a complete-game effort as Reed ballooned its winnings streak to 13 games with a 3-1 victory at Damonte Ranch on Friday afternoon.
The game was scheduled to be played Thursday but was pushed back 24 hours due to Thursday’s snow.
Reed (18-2-1, 8-2) remained just one game behind Spanish Springs for first place in the 4A North while Damonte Ranch lowered to 7-9, 4-6.
Carla Hernandez (2-for-4) belted a solo home run in the top of the fourth to tie the game at 1-1. Allie Hughes’ two-out RBI double in the fifth gave the Raiders their first lead and Jessica Sellers’ two-out RBI single in the sixth provided Jensen an insurance run she didn’t need.
The Raiders go to North Valleys on Saturday for a doubleheader.

Sparks routed at Fernley
The Railroaders’ losing streak reached four games on Friday with a 12-1 loss at Fernley in five innings.
Sparks (5-10, 2-9) mustered just two hits in the defeats, one apiece from Matt Longland and Braden Goodnough. Fernley swung to 7-10, 5-7.
The two squads wrap up their three-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader.
