Julia Jensen, Reed softball
The Nevada signee set a state record, led the Raiders to their fifth straight regional title and picked up a battle wound. In the seventh innings of Saturday’s 4-2 regional title game victory over Bishop Manogue, Jensen took a ground ball off her eye brow that was glued shut before she closed out the contest. Jensen went 4-0 over the weekend, and now has 97 career victories – breaking a 14-year-old state record of 94 wins on Friday against Damonte Ranch. Jensen threw all 28 innings in the tournament, allowing nine earned runs (2.25 ERA) on 24 hits. She struck out 48 compared to just six walks. At the plate, she was 5-for-11 (.456) with a home run, a double, four RBIs and four runs scored.
