Spanish Springs is ready to re-start the season this week.
The Cougars (0-1, 0-0) were one of four 4A North teams to play on the campus of Idaho State on Saturday and were drubbed 43-0 by one of the best teams in the state, Rocky Mountain, 43-0.
Douglas and Galena also fell to Idaho squads while Carson was the lone 4A North team to enjoy the long bus ride back with a win, 14-13 over Lewiston.
Early turnovers were costly for Spanish Springs in the loss. A pick-six and another interception returned to the 2-yard line contributed to an early hole the Cougs couldn’t climb from.
Spanish Springs will play its first home game of the season on Friday against Foothill (Palo Cedro, Calif.). the other Cougars (1-0) won seven of 11 games a season ago, including a 46-33 home victory over Spanish Springs.
