Sparks Museum & Cultural Center is pleased to offer this Creative Movement Dance Workshop and Demonstration taught by Eve Allen. Free to the public, the workshops will teach participants movement theory, drawing inspiration from Nevada-based maps, music, poetry, and artwork provided by art students at Truckee Meadows Community College.
Creative Movement Drop-in sessions are open to all levels, ages 3 to adult– no prior experience in dance is needed. A Choreography Workshop will also be offered and is a three-day intensive class for ages 12 to adult. This workshop will culminate with an informal performance on Sunday, to show friends and family their creations.
Eve Allen received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a dance minor from the University of Nevada, Reno and her Masters of Fine Arts in ballet from the University of Utah. Eve is a Ballet Lecturer with the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Nevada, Reno. She is the founder and director of the Downtown Dance Collective (DDC). Allen performs locally with A.V.A. Ballet Theatre, Belle Contemporary Dance Company, and Rosie Trump With or Without Dance. She has choreographed for Municipal Ballet Co. in Salt Lake City, the Nevada Opera, Sierra Nevada Ballet, and the University of Nevada, Reno. Eve is an active member of the Royal Academy of Dance and teaches syllabus classes for all levels at The Conservatory of Movement. She is a registered teaching artist for the Nevada Arts Council and the Sierra Arts Foundation and utilizes the Kennedy Center’s definition of arts integration in her classes at Lincoln Park Elementary School in Sparks, NV.
