Robotics competition today at Reed High
The ReedBotics will be hosting robotics teams across Northern Nevada on Nov. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Reed High School in the small gymnasium, located at 1350 Baring Boulevard in Sparks. This is the first of four competitions in Northern Nevada to launch this year’s FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Tech Challenge.
On Thursday, the ReedBotics would like to invite the community to join them at “Bingo and Bots” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Reed High School for a fun night of bingo and robots and amazing prizes for the whole family.

Celtic Christmas show set for Dec. 7 at GSR
Champion Irish dancers Rory Patrick and Laura Shannon Cass will headline ‘SIAMSA’ A Celtic Christmas for ONE SHOW ONLY on Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. in the Grand Theater at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. This production, presented by The Reno Irish Dance Company, is an enchanting holiday celebration for the entire family, featuring beautiful dance, music and two young sisters in search of the “Candle in the Window” – the light that represents the true meaning of Christmas.
‘SIAMSA’ A Celtic Christmas was written by Amanda Coulson, who also serves as director and choreographer. Amanda is the Artistic Director of the Reno Irish Dance Company and founder of Dancin! Performing Arts Center in Reno.
This show is a SIAMSA (pronounced Shimsa), which means celebration in Gaelic. The show brings a magical journey to life, telling the story of two young girls, Holly and her sister Ceili, in search of the true meaning of Christmas.

Register for Deep Freeze Softball League by Dec. 16
Begin the softball season early by taking part in the City of Sparks 21st annual Deep Freeze Softball League. Registration will be held through December 16 at the Alf Sorensen Community Center, 1400 Baring Blvd. The 8-week season will take place in all weather conditions on Wednesday evenings, Jan. 10 through Feb. 28 at the Sports Complex at Golden Eagle Regional Park. Game times are 6:30 p.m., 7:40 p.m. and 8:50 p.m.
The cost to participate in the Deep Freeze League is $400 per team. Players must be 18 years of age or older. Individual shirts will be awarded to first place of each division along with the coveted ice cube trophy. For more information, call (775) 353-2385 or emailsportsinfo@cityofsparks.us.
Free flu vaccines available Saturday in Reno
Free flu vaccines will be available for children and adults at The Children’s Cabinet Campus gym at 1090 South Rock Boulevard in Reno on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bring insurance, Medicare or Medicaid card if available. All are welcome and no one will be turned away, while supplies last. This clinic is supported by the Washoe County Health District and Immunize Nevada.
