The Sparks High girls basketball team entered the holiday break on a high note last week after finally getting into the win column, not once but twice.
On Friday, the Railroaders earned their first win of the season after beating Coral Academy, 53-18.
The girls hit the hardwood less than 24 hours later and knocked off visiting Dayton 48-38. Sparks raced out to an early lead and took a 23-21 advantage into the break. They went on to outscore the Dust Devils by eight over the final two quarters to secure the victory.
Sparks (2-4, 1-3) is in the midst of two weeks off before diving into a busy conference slate after the new year. They play at Elko and Spring Creek on Jan. 5 and 6 before hosting South Tahoe Jan. 9.
