With the holidays in the rearview mirror, the second half of the boy’s basketball season is set to begin in Northern Nevada with a full slate of conference action on tap this week.
Spanish Springs entered the week with a 12-4 record overall and tied with Reno in the 4A High Desert League standings with a 6-0 mark in league play so far. Behind the leaders are Reed (9-9, 1-2), McQueen (4-6, 1-2), North Valleys (5-11, 1-4) and Hug (4-5, 0-3).
The Cougs played at McQueen on Tuesday and will play at North Valleys on Friday while the Raiders played at North Valleys yesterday and host Reno Friday.
Sparks
The Railroaders are still in search of their first win of the season after falling in three games last week.
Sparks came close to knocking off Quincy, Calif. last Wednesday but came up two points short in the 55-53 loss. After falling 71-12 at Elko on Friday, the boys took a 61-32 loss the next day at Spring Creek.
The Railroaders took on South Tahoe at home on Tuesday and play at Churchill County Friday night.
