Just over a year after the first Chick-fil-A locations opened in Nevada, local franchise owner Tiffany Sangster will bring Chick-fil-A’s freshly prepared menu and award-winning customer service to the city of Sparks on Feb. 1.
The stand-alone restaurant at 1390 Big Fish Dr. will bring 110 new jobs, a chance for 100 adults to win free Chick-fil-A meals for a year and the opportunity for the community to donate children’s books to a local elementary.
To celebrate the grand opening, a family friendly overnight First 100 party is expected to pop up in the restaurant parking lot of the new Sparks Chick-fil-A restaurant 24 hours before the grand opening as guests try to be one of the first 100 adults through the door to win a year of free Chick-fil-A meals. This community event is open to guests residing in specific zip codes surrounding the restaurant. A list of eligible zip codes and rules can be found at www.chick-fil-a.com/Locations/Openings.
A tradition going back more than 14 years, Chick-fil-A’s First 100 celebration has given away more than $34 million in free food through 2017 and continues to be the chain’s signature grand opening event. Rain, snow and extreme temperatures do not deter Chick-fil-A fans who arrive with tents, chairs, TVs and computers.
Each fan hopes to win a digital offer card loaded with a one-year supply of free Chick-fil-A meals (52 meals with each consisting of a Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, medium Waffle Potato Fries and a medium beverage) that will be awarded to the first 100 eligible adults – ages 18 and older with identification – in line shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 1. If more than 100 people are on site when the line opens at 6 a.m. on Jan. 31, a drawing will be held. Those chosen will be required to camp out until the grand opening in order to secure their spot.
“My team members and I are thrilled to open Sparks’ first Chick-fil-A location and can’t wait to welcome guests to our Sparks Boulevard & I-80 restaurant,” said Sangster. “We’re not just in the chicken business — we’re in the people business. Our goal is to provide a remarkable experience for every customer, every time, by serving food our guests can truly feel good about eating, providing sincere hospitality and being a good neighbor.”
After graduating from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont., with degrees in accounting and finance, Sangster was recruited by a national clothing retailer and worked for the outlet for 14 years. Most recently, she was a regional manager over North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. It was during Sangster’s time in Raleigh that she met Jon White, the grandson of Chick-fil-A Founder S. Truett Cathy and a Chick-fil-A Operator himself. White introduced her to the brand and encouraged her to pursue becoming a franchise owner. Sangster fell in love with the company’s vision and quickly realized the chain’s culture and focus on developing leaders fit her own entrepreneurial goals.
Born and raised in Cody, Wyo., Sangster is a Westerner at heart and is thrilled to be making Sparks her home.
She and her husband, Thomas, have five children, four of which they adopted from the Democratic Republic of Congo. In the six months that the Sangster family has lived in Sparks, they have made strong connections and look forward to continue building relationships with people in the community.
Reflecting her desire to give back from day one of business, Sangster is inviting the community to participate in a children’s book drive benefitting a local elementary during grand opening week. The donated books will be placed in a nearly 3-foot Book House, built from reclaimed wood. Since 2014, Chick-fil-A has collected more than 57,000 books that have been donated to 325 local organizations in 45 states and Washington, D.C.
The new Sparks Boulevard & I-80 restaurant is the fifth location to open in Nevada. One year ago, Chick-fil-A opened its first two locations in the state in metro Las Vegas. A third Las Vegas location followed in early spring and in May the chain opened its first Reno area restaurant located on S. McCarran Boulevard. Additional information about the new Sparks
