Raiders rebound with rout of Panthers
Reed hosted Spanish Springs last Tuesday for the first of two games in three weeks between the Sparks rivals. The Cougs won the first battle, 53-41. Reed senior Taylor Johnson led her team with 16 points in the loss.
After the win, the Cougs focused its attention on McQueen and avenging the only High Desert League loss they had this season, a 50-44 defeat Jan. 9. The girls did just that on Friday as they cruised to a 46-27 win at home over the Lancers. Cougs senior Kierra Johnson scored 14 points in the win.
Spanish Springs improved to 17-6 overall with the wins and sit atop the conference standings in first place. They hosted North Valleys yesterday and play at Hug Friday night.
Reed was able to rebound from the loss with a 70-19 rout over North Valleys Friday night. Johnson scored 18 points for the Raiders and sophomore Shelvy Pascual finished with 11.
The Raiders improved to 15-4 overall with the split but still sit in fourth place in the league standings. They played at Reno yesterday and travel to McQueen Friday night.
