Victorian Avenue between Pyramid Way and 10th Street, both east and westbound, will be closed from February 5-9 as the City of Sparks’ Victorian Square Improvement Project continues.
Additionally, one southbound lane on Pyramid Way will be closed after peak commute times, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., to allow for the construction activity on Victorian Avenue.
By the weekend of February 10-11, eastbound Victorian Avenue, from Pyramid Way to 10th Street, will reopen, with the westbound lane remaining closed until February 14.
The $634,000 project by QD Construction includes drainage improvements and replacement of aging concrete and pavers on the north side of Victorian Avenue. Tree planters are also being enlarged to provide more seating and a healthy environment for trees and vegetation. This phase also includes rebuilding the concrete median island, landscaping and improving surface drainage.
Detours will be in place using 10th Street, C Street and Pyramid Way.
The project is part of the City’s planned revitalization of infrastructure to the downtown area. All businesses will remain open with access provided.
Future phases to the project will include similar improvements from Pyramid Way to 15th Street over the next several years.
