Aubrey Parks roped a home run and a double, and finished with three RBIs as Spanish Springs topped Douglas 6-1 last Wednesday.
It was the beginning of a busy week for the Cougs who won two more the following day at Carson. Amidori Anderson broke open the game for Spanish Springs with a home run and three RBIs in a 6-2 win in eight innings for her team in game one. Courtney Huff added three hits and Kaylah House turned in seven strong innings and one earned run in the circle.
The Cougs scored six in the seventh to win 12-4 in game two. Huff led the way with four hits and Clary added three in a 16-hit attack.
Spanish Springs played in Reed’s tourney over the weekend and won its first three before dropping its first contest of the season. Anderson was brilliant in the circle in the first game of the tourney and pitched six innings of one hit ball as her team earned a 6-1 win over Newark Memorial. Parks and Rylee Retzer each drove in two runs on three hots apiece.
Anderson would go deep for the second time in the week in a 11-2 game two win over Crater Point out of Oregon. The senior drove on three and finished just a triple short of the cycle, while Parks also had three hits and three RBIs. Katelyn Townsend recorded three singles in the win.
Clary blanked Chico in the final game of the day and the Cougs pushed one across in the third to win the game 1-0. Clary was perfect in the five inning game and didn’t allow a run, hit or walk and struck out five. Parks drove in the only run of the game and Townsend recorded three hits.
Freedom knocked Spanish Springs from the tournament early Saturday and gave them its first loss. The Cougs took a 1-0 lead in the second , but didn’t score after and fell 4-1. Townsend had two of the team’s six hits.
The Cougs (13-1, 6-0) returned to league play yesterday when they hosted Bishop Manogue.
