Spanish Springs lost its second game of the season last Tuesday after splitting a doubleheader at home against Bishop Manogue.
In game one, both teams pounded out 15 hits but the Miners pulled away in the late innings to get a 14-8 win. Hannah Blas had a pair of triples and two RBIs to lead the Miners. Aubrey Parks smacked two doubles, a single and drove in four runs for the Cougs and Katelyn Townsend tallied three singles in the loss.
Tyra Clary took game two in her own hands and held the Miners scoreless over seven innings as the Cougs picked up a 5-0 win. Amidori Anderson had two hits, a double and an RBI to help lead Spanish Springs to the split.
Anderson was back at it again on Thursday with a single, triple and four RBIs as her Cougs blasted Damonte Ranch, 15-0. Courtney Huff had a team high four hits while Huff and Townsend both finished the game with three. Rylee Retzer also had a nice game with two double and four RBIs.
Spanish Springs (15-2, 8-1) still sit atop the High Desert League standings and will play at Wooster tomorrow at 3:45 p.m.
