During President Obama’s eight years in office, his colleagues and the adoring Press Corps often labelled him as “cool”. Now, during the Trump presidency, the mainstream media’s favorite phrase in describing the Trump White House is “chaotic”.
In actuality, the man at the center of this supposed chaos has accomplished more for the country in a little over a year than the previous President was able to deliver in eight years. This calls to mind the old adage that “Actions speak louder than words.” While Obama used his linguistic skills to promise a number of things, such as shovel-ready jobs that never came to fruition, Trump has remained steadfast in delivering what he promised during the 2016 campaign.
Previously, the sycophantic Press commented non-stop on the fact that Obama was the most intelligent President to ever occupy that office. I believe it was radio shock-jock Howard Stern who repeatedly asked for Obama’s IQ score. I don’t believe that he ever received an answer.
Nowadays, there must be some mysterious clearinghouse that gives the three major networks and their cable affiliates marching orders as to what to say. This can easily be proven by some quick channel-surfing of the five at any given moment. The same topic is almost always covered at the same moment. This reminds one of an advertising technique that was routinely used when there were only three television outlets. The same ad copy was scheduled at the same time so that 100% of the TV audience would receive the sponsor’s message.
Another striking difference between Obama and Trump is that while Obama was content to “lead from behind”, Trump has no problem in becoming the tip of the spear when it comes to global action.

REPUBLICAN ROSEANNE RESURFACES. The amazing viewership that the recently rebooted “Roseanne” show garnered in its first appearance reminds one of the hilarious long-ago “Archie Bunker Show”, “All in the Family”. For the first time in decades, we have a program that does not preach liberalism or progressivism. Of all the left-leaning presentations on television, the most heinous is that of so-called comedian, Bill Maher. His profanity-laced offerings often feature filmdom’s Rob Reiner, who played “Meat Head” on the Bunker show. On that offering, he was a long-haired hippie liberal who ran counter to his father-in-law’s alt conservatism. In decrying the success of the Roseanne show, he said it was merely a propaganda tool of the right. Apparently the liberal lines that were fed to him during the Bunker years have permanently altered his thinking.

THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING. A theory that has gained widespread exposure among Republicans is that somehow someone on the right is offering talking points to Hillary Clinton. Every time she makes a public statement lately, she has turned off a segment of the voting public. Although Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are the current face of the Democratic Party, their pronouncements seem wan when compared to Hillary’s outbursts. At the present time, Hillary has become a wrecking ball in the eyes of the Democrat hierarchy. Supposedly, Hillary was to become the champion of women’s rights but apparently had forgotten it since she recently demeaned the fairer sex by saying that they were incapable of voting their own preference.

LAST WEEK’S REID—KERRY appearance at the University of Nevada called for bi-partisanship in Washington DC. This seems strange since the two were poster boys for the intransigence that existed between the red and blue reps during the Obama years. In their Reno lecture they cited global warming as the most pressing issue facing America. Reid, who was a firewall for Obama when it came to passing legislation, was a far greater obstructionist on The Hill than the present-day Schumer. Kerry, who is best known as America’s Neville Chamberlain and was a second choice for Secretary of State, is best known for his work in crafting the abysmal Iran nuclear deal. After their talk, President Marc Johnson of the U announced that the Reid lectures would be a twice-yearly event. It is doubtful that a similar lecture series featuring Republican statesmen would also be scheduled.

MOST DISQUIETING NEWS last week was that the Martin twins and Jordan Caroline of Nevada’s basketball squad have opted to make themselves available in the upcoming NBA draft. This must have caused Coach Eric Musselman a few sleepless nights as he contemplated the loss of the core of his 2018-19 team. The only redeeming factor of the trio’s decision was that none of them has hired an agent, which means that they will still be eligible for college play.
