The regional was a quick one for the fourth seeded Reed softball team, nearly one year after making it to the state championship game. The Raiders lost their first two games and were eliminated on the first day of play.
Reed fell to Carson 8-0 in their first round game last Thursday at Bishop Manogue despite a strong effort in the circle early from Aliya Lange. The senior held the Senators to just two runs through five innings before they opened up the game with six in the sixth. On offense, Alycia Coats had two of the team’s five hits.
The loss dropped the Raiders to the loser’s bracket where they met up with No. 8 seed Reno. The Huskies scored in every inning but the third and cruised to a 14-5 win. Coats and Lange led the team with three hits each while Carla Hernandez and Trinity Cossette both added a pair.
Reed finished the season 16-13-2 overall.
