It’s D-DAY so DON’TCHA DALLY or DASTARDLY DEEDS may be DONE DIRT CHEAP.
On June 6, 1944, allied troops staged a carnivorous frontal assault on Hitler’s defenses on the beaches of Normandy in France. It was recently revealed that British Prime Minister Winston Churchill had devised a much less bloody strategy to invade from the Mediterranean side. Supreme Allied Commander Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower overruled him.
When do we stop making more DISABLED and DEBILITATED veterans?
So as long as we’re doing D’s, let’s DISS a few DASTARDS.
DON’T SERVE QUEERS because the U.S. Supreme Court has said it’s DOABLE to DISS them if they try to buy a cake at your bakery. Perish forbid that they move into your neighborhood.
DID YOU SEE the poignant article in Sunday’s Reno Gazette-Journal about the suicide of 16 year-old Damonte Ranch High School student Carla Gabrielle Ballesteros?
Her mother, Connie Elizalde, “said her daughter confided in her that another student would talk about President Donald Trump and how Hispanics should go back to Mexico.”
DÉJÀ VU all over again: As some sage said soon after King Ronald the Vague got elected in 1980, it’s OK to hate again.
DÉJÀ DUERR? Reno City Councilmember Naomi Duerr appears on a campaign commercial for gubernatorial candidate Steve Sisolak along with Reno Councilmember Jenny Brekhus and Assembly Majority Leader Theresa Benitez-Thompson. The photo was taken at the Reno Womens March earlier this year.
Brekhus is livid because she didn’t give permission and has actually endorsed Sisolak’s Democratic primary opponent, Christina Giunchigliani (Barbwire May 23, 2018). I wonder if the other two have endorsed Big Steve or just don’t watch much TV.
DEATH KNELL for the Reid Machine. Former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Searchlight, supports Sisolak and anointed freshman Congresswoman Jacky Rosen to run against U.S. Sen. Dean Heller, R-Carson City. (Reid should not have frozen out former State Treasurer Kate Marshall, now running for Light-Guv. She’s successfully run statewide many times.)
From the evidence on the public record, Rosen, Giunchigliani and Sisolak all apparently have a lot of green non-Nevadans in their campaigns. Their communications and media have been abdominal, i.e., so abominable that I get abdominal pains.
Should Giunchigliani lose to Sisolak in next week’s primary, the vaunted Reid machine will fall for the last time this fall.
DÉJÀ VU PART DEUX. Without Ms. G on the November ballot, this latest incarnation of The Year of the Woman will result in Heller’s re-election and lightweight Adam Laxalt as governor. Many of the newly energized voters will be turned off and take a pass as did a lot of Bernie Sanders followers in 2016.
Sen. Sanders, D-Vermont, would have won the Nevada caucuses had not Reid jumped in at the last minute and marshaled the Las Vegas Strip for Hillary Clinton.
DON’T VOTE EARLY. Wait til June 12. You never know if the guy you like will turn into a DASTARD Due to last-minute revelations.
DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP. Sharron Angle is always with us. Not only is she running against formerly responsible Congressman Mark Amodei in Tuesday’s GOP primary, her theocracy outfit has endorsed a new slate of moonhowlers. Her mis-named “Republican Assembly” is part of a national outfit I’ve been reporting about for 20 years. These ayatollahs believe in government by the Christian Bible. Who needs the First Amendment, anyway?
Their current slate includes the opponents of Reno City Councilmember Naomi Duerr, Washoe County Commissioner Kitty Jung, County Commission candidate Greg Smith, Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, Washoe County School District Trustee Debra Feemster and Attorney General candidate Sen. Aaron Ford, D-Las Vegas, Please read the Barbwire online archive before you vote.
D-DAY IN NEVADA HAPPENS THIS SATURDAY when my dear friend, civil rights legend, Reno-Sparks NAACP matriarch and former president Dolores Feemster will be laid to rest. (Barbwire May 30) After the funeral of her son Darryl brought more than a thousand to Sparks Christian Fellowship last year, I knew we would probably need the Reno-Sparks Convention Center when we lost Dolores.
Thanks to County Commissioners Bob Lucey and Kitty Jung, that’s what we have, starting at noon this Saturday, June 9, in the main ballroom. Parking is free but arrive early. A reception follows in the Hug High cafeteria. A longtime counselor at the school, Mrs. Feemster died May 25 at Sparks Family Hospital.
Monitor NevadaLabor.com and RenoSparksNAACP.org for continuing updates.
Be well. Raise hell and VOTE, DAMMIT!
