The Reno Aces entered the All-Star break on a high note after back-to-back convincing wins against Sacramento to finish the week with a 4-3 record.
Reno began the week (July 2-8) with 5-3 and 11-4 losses on the road at Tacoma before returning home to a sold out crowd on the Fourth of July for the start of a five-game series with Sacramento and knocking off the River Cats 10-5. They followed that up with a 10-9 win on Thursday before falling Friday 8-7. However, 8-1 and 8-2 victories over the weekend sent the Aces to the break with a winning week.
Aces outfielder Socrates Brito picked up a huge honor Monday and was named Triple-A Player of the Month for June. Brito led all of Minor League Baseball in extra-base hits (20), OPS (1.392), slugging percentage (.902) and tied for first in runs scored (27). Brito led the Triple-A level in home runs (10) and total bases (74), while his average (.415) and on-base percentage (.490) were both good for second in the Pacific Coast League. Brito, 25, was signed by Arizona out of Azua, Dominican Republic on May 28, 2010.
The Aces return to action tomorrow to begin a four-game series with El Paso. Reno currently sits in third place in the PCL Pacific Northern division with a record of 42-48, 10.5 games back of first place Fresno.
