Despite finishing with a 4-3 record last week (Aug. 13-19), time is starting to run out on the Reno Aces season. With just 14 games remaining on the schedule, the Aces are 65-61, seven games behind Fresno in the PCL Northern Division. The two teams don’t have any head-to-head games left against one another.
The Aces are still playing good baseball entering their final road series of the season and are coming off a series win at home over Salt Lake that saw them win three of four. Reno lost a close one to the Bees on Sunday, 8-7, after taking the first three games 7-5, 8-7 and 9-5 respectively.
Kevin Cron has been one of the reason’s for the team’s recent success and is one of the best RBI-men in baseball this season. The Aces infielder has driven in 91 runs since his first game on May 4 and his 91 RBIs leads all of professional baseball since that date. The Texas Christian product has 412 career RBIs and has recorded four consecutive seasons with 88 RBIs or more. Cron went 1-for-3 in Sunday’s contest with a solo home run.
Reno began it’s 10-game road trip yesterday at Tacoma for a series that wraps up tomorrow before traveling to Albuquerque for three on Friday. They finish their road schedule up at Salt Lake next week for three games beginning Tuesday.
