James is currently a junior at Reed High School. He continues to maintain a 3.85 GPA while playing varsity baseball, varsity tennis and is a member of the Muckdogs travel baseball club. He and his family live in Sparks and are active in the community. James volunteers at the local non-profit Kiwanis Bike Program that help teach bicycle safety and repair donated bikes. The majority of bikes they refurbish go to youth organizations and schools in Northern Nevada. James is looking forward to advancing his academic and athletics into College.
Outside of sports, he enjoys hunting, fishing, rock climbing, spending time at the Beach in SoCal with family, surfing, playing beach volleyball and attending LA Angels baseball games.
The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) announced student James B. Coffindaffer from Sparks has been selected to become a member of the esteemed organization. The Society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment. The announcement was made by NSHSS Founder and Chairman Claes Nobel, senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes.
“On behalf of The National Society of High School Scholars, I am honored to recognize the hard work, sacrifice and commitment that James has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence,” said Nobel. “James is now a member of a unique community of scholars – a community that represents our very best future.”
