An aura of haughty disdain

One of the first things you learn in the PR business, especially when handling a political candidate, is that the television camera never lies.

Consequently, when you have a candidate who has discernable negative body language such as a nervous tic, shifty eyes or trembling lips, you immediately ban him from any TV coverage. However, since TV is the dominant factor when selling a politician, you quickly create commercials that feature flattering still photos and a voice-over citing the wonderful characteristics of your principal.

This fact was strongly brought to mind while watching Secretary of State John Kerry being grilled by Congress last week relative to the Iran nuclear deal.

Like most of the Obama administration cabal who are called to appear before investigative committees, this seems to be the approved modus operandi.

In Kerry’s case, with his sharp retorts and dismissive answers to what he seems to think are ignorant committee members, this attitude has reached its zenith. He only seemed to get flustered and momentarily speechless when asked about the “side deal” between the International Atomic Energy Agency and Iran.

From leaked reports to the press, that side deal contains the details of how the inspection of Iran’s nuclear sites will be conducted. When pressed, Kerry said he had not seen the written agreements between the atomic energy inspectors and the Iranian representatives. However, he did admit that the National Security Agency had. Obama’s chief prevaricator, National Security Adviser Susan Rice, had seen and approved them.

Since Rice was elevated to her prestigious position because she had promulgated the false narrative about Benghazi that the Obama administration had created, she is now viewed as the paragon of honesty and forthrightness. Recently she uttered a statement that should make all of us sleep better at night when she said that ISIS was not an existential threat to America. Apparently she does not read the daily newspapers.

Perhaps one of the reasons that she was privy to the contents of the side deal is the fact that she was first in line to replace Hillary Clinton but because of her famous TV lies declined the position before it was offered to her and instead let the post go to the second choice, Kerry.

To subvert Congress’ role in the deal with Iran, Obama first went to the UN for approval. In football parlance, this is known as an “end run.”By such action, Obama has cast himself as our Supreme Leader dealing with Iran’s Supreme Leader.

In the presidential race, it was reported last week that Hillary Clinton shut down an entire store to get a $600 haircut. Later in the week she had to appear on TV to deny another Clinton Foundation scandal. This one involved the IRS and the UBS Bank of Switzerland. Husband Bill later received over $1.5 million in speaking fees from that bank. At that appearance, judging from the unkempt look of her locks, she should ask for her money back from the hairstylist.
