Washington mess gets messier

August 18, 2015 By Harry Spencer

Last week Hillary Clinton’s campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination received a powerful one-two punch to the abdomen. The first blow came when it was revealed that her opponent in the primary, Bernie Sanders, surpassed her in the latest New Hampshire poll. The second came when she had to respond to a request to turn over her email server to the FBI. In response to the FBI request, she proudly stated that it was “voluntary” on her part. Everyone knows that this is not true. She turned it over ONLY when it was demanded of her.

There has been much wrangling over whether the FBI probe is “criminal” in nature. According to one investigative reporter who queried FBI officials, they responded that ALL their investigations are criminal in nature. Also, a number of former judges of every level who have transmogrified into political TV commentators have pointed out that Hillary may have violated several statutes.

In response to the allegations swirling about her lack of honesty and truthfulness, her campaign advisors have said that it is all “nonsense”. It reminds one of the answer President Obama used when confronted about his own administration’s plethora of scandals. He famously said all of the allegations of misbehavior were phony although in most cases the persons accused quickly exited his administration. Obama, from his high perch in his ivory tower, has responded with the phrase, “There is no there, there.” As he has also reiterated, “I only become aware of these transgressions when I read about them in the press just like you do”. Additionally, he is famous for stating that an investigation will be held immediately and that the situation will be reversed. Interestingly enough, those investigations usually go nowhere and no positive results have yet been engendered.

One of the biggest controversies in the current nomination process, on both sides, is who is the person mostly responsible for the creation of ISIS? On the Democratic side, the current target is George W. Bush. For the Republicans, the obvious culprit is Obama, who years ago called ISIS a “JV team,” removed America’s stabilizing forces and declared that the war on terror “is over.” He even doubled down on this statement in his address to a West Point graduating class. He told the cadets that their future mission in the world would be one of diplomacy rather than warfare.

The current mantra of the Obama administration, as promulgated by his underlings, is that our focus should be on winning the hearts and minds of our adversaries. Several of his sycophants have advocated a dynamic policy of confronting the enemy by offering them education and jobs. Perhaps removing their weapons of warfare would be a quicker solution.

Getting back to Hillary, there may be more problems on the horizon as it becomes more and more probable that Vice President Joe Biden may jump into the race. It is a well-known fact inside the Beltway that there is little love lost between the Clintons and the Obamas. One had only to read the current book “Blood Feud” by Washington insider Edward Klein.
