Bone Daddy’s BBQ from Midland, Mich., took first place and the People’s Choice award at the 27th annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off as 24 of the world’s top rib cookers vied for top honors at what is regarded as the largest and most prestigious rib cook-off in the country. The winners were announced Monday.
This is the third time Bone Daddy’s BBQ has won first place at the event. They also placed second in last year’s competition.
“It is a huge deal to win here,” said Bill Wall, pitmaster and owner of Bone Daddy’s BBQ. “It’s everything. I’m really proud to take home People’s Choice, as well. It means a lot to me.”
Wall plans to donate a portion of his winnings to a local food bank, and split the rest with his team.
