After losing a rare pare of High Desert League girls golf tournaments to start the season, Spanish Springs won its first league tournament of the fall Wednesday in heavy wind gusts at Sierra Sage Golf Course.
The Cougars shot a team score of 377, 11 strokes better than runner-up McQueen. Reno, which won the first two tournaments, fired a 392. Reed (407) finished fourth.
Jada McAlister shot a 79 to lead the Cougs. She was followed by Emma Gilmore (94), Grace Bartlett (101) and Katie Gilbertson (103).
Reed freshman Kaitlin Fleiner shot an 81 to pace the Raiders. Mackenzie Howren fired a 99 to also break 100. Abby Horner (107) and Rachel Rhoads (120) made up the rest of Reed’s scores.
McQueen’s Alice Duan turned in a 4-over-par 76 to earn medalist honors for the third-straight tournament.
The HDL circuit continues next Tuesday at Sommerset Golf and Country Club.
