The McQueen girls golf team won its second-straight High Desert League tournament on Wednesday with a team score of 353 at Wildcreek Golf Course.
The Lancers’ final score was 19 strokes better than both Spanish Springs and Reno. The Cougars won the tie breaker, the fifth score, to take second. Spanish Springs sophomore Grace Brartlett’s 100 was three strokes better than Reno’s Jordan Buxton.
Reed finished fourth with a 399.
Jada McAlister and Emma Gilmore both carded 87s to lead the Cougs followed by a pair of 99s from Ciara Hornbarger and Katie Gilbertson.
Freshman Kaitlin Fleiner’s 84 paced the Raiders, followed by Rachel Rhoads (98), Mackenzie Howren (106) and Abby Horner (111).
McQueen’s Alice Duan won medalist honors with a 79. Duan has shot the lowest score at all five HDL tournaments this fall.
The HDL regular season tournament circuit concludes next Wednesday at Red Hawk Golf Course—Spanish Springs’ home course.
The Cougars have won one HDL tournament this fall while Reno and McQueen have both won a pair.
