McQueen claimed its third-straight High Desert League tournament title, and the overall league title, on Wednesday at Red Hawk Golf Course (Lakes Course).
The Lancers’ team score of 335 was nine strokes better than Spanish Springs, which finished second in the tournament, and the HDL. Reno (386) took third and Reed (400) finished fourth.
McQueen won three tournaments this fall, Reno won a pair and Spanish Springs won one.
Jada McAlister fired a 5-over-par 77 to lead the Cougs on their home course. Emma Gilmore (81), Ciara Hornbarger (89) and Grace Bartlett (97) made up the rest of Spanish Springs’ scores.
Freshman Kaitlin Fleiner turned in Reed’s best score at every tournament this fall—including Wednesday. Fleiner turned in a 79. She was followed Mackenzie Howren (100), Abby Horner (109) and Rachel Rhoads (112).
McQueen sophomore Alice Duan fired a season-low 3-under-par 69 to win medalist honors. She won every tournament this fall and claimed the individual HDL title with an average score of 74.83. McAlister finished second in the league with an average score of 82.17.
The DI North regional tournament starts on Monday at Hidden Valley Country Club and concludes Tuesday at Somersett Golf Course.
