Spanish Springs sits atop the leaderboard after Monday’s first round of the DI North regional girls golf tournament at Hidden Valley Country Club.
The Cougars turned in a team score of 353, three strokes better than McQueen and four strokes better than Reno. Bishop Manogue (374), Douglas (386), Reed (411), Wooster (411) and Galena (420) make up the rest of the team scores.
Spanish Springs was led by Jada McAlister (81) who sits in fourth place overall and Emma Gilmore (83) who’s in sixth. Katie Gilbertson (93), Ciara Hornbarger (96) and Grace Bartlett (106) rounded out the Cougs’ scorecard.
Kaitlin Fleiner (86) led the Raiders. She was followed by Darby Grow (98), Mackenzie Howren (100) and Rachel Rhoads (127). One Reed golfer had to withdraw.
McQueen’s Alic Duan turned in a 73 and leads the overall competition. She was five strokes better than Reno’s Abbi Fleiner (78) and seven strokes better than Bishop Manogue’s Jax Sohl (80).
The regional tournament concludes Tuesday at Somersett Country Club—McQueen’s home course.
