Reed senior shortstop Kenzie Goins verbally committed to Nevada last year but made her plans official on Thursday, signing a national letter of intent to play for the Pack.
Goins hit .403 last season while scoring 53 runs and driving in 36 as the Raiders went 37-2 and won the DI state title.
“All I can say is I am very grateful for the opportunity to fulfill my dreams of playing DI college softball and furthering my education at a tier 1 college,” Goins said.

She also drew interest from UNLV but chose to stay home because “it’s a college that seemed to fulfill all of my wants and needs.”
After completing her senior season, Goins figures to have the chance to compete for playing time immediately.
Nevada’s shortstop last season, Megan Sweet, graduated after leading the team in batting average (.405), home runs (10), runs (33) and RBIs (48). The only remaining shortstop listed on Nevada’s roster, Melissa Arriaga, is a junior and will graduate this spring.
“We are excited about the power and speed she will provide to our offense,” Nevada coach Matt Meuchel told the school’s sports information department. “As a local product, she grew up a huge fan of the Wolf Pack and we look forward to her having a great career for us.”
Goins’ teammates at Reed, outfielder Jessica Sellers and pitcher Julia Jensen, are verbally committed to joining Goins at Nevada. Both are juniors.
