
Marcus Loadholt scored 19 points and 11 different Cougars got in the box score as Spanish Springs rolled to a season-opening 74-21 home drubbing of Wooster on Tuesday night.
As suggested by the final score, the outcome was determined early as the Cougs led 47-13 at the break and continued to roll in the second half.
Josh Prizina and Jalen Townsell also reached double figures in the win, both chipping in 11.
No player scored more than four points for Wooster, which played its second game after opening the season on Saturday with a 56-54 loss to Sparks. Isaac Zinnerman led the way with four points.
The Cougs will now hit the road for their annual trip to the Napa Wine Classic, starting Thursday night against Vintage at 6:30 p.m.
Big second quarter lifts Spanish Springs girls

The Spanish Springs girls held a narrow 8-5 lead over Wooster after the first quarter of Tuesday’s season opener at home.
But the Cougs outscored the Colts 16-6 in the second quarter and rolled to a 50-27 victory.
Alysa Domingues scored 13 points and Anhelica Shanrock finished with 12 as 10 different Cougs contributed.
The Cougars held a 24-11 edge at the half and outscored the Colts 14-9 in the third to take a comfortable 38-20 lead into the final eight minutes.
Spanish Springs will play the first game a non-league tournament its hosting on Thursday night at home against Bella Vista. Tip is at 7:30 p.m.
