Police arrest man in apartment fire

January 21, 2016 By Sparks Tribune 1 Comment

Police have arrested a 20-year-old Sparks man on suspicion of intentionally starting a fire in his apartment on Sunday.

Tristan Dufurrena was booked into jail on charges of first-degree arson, obstructing a peace officer and possession of drug paraphernalia, police reported Monday.

Sparks firefighters and police responded to the report of smoke coming from an apartment in the 1600 block of Merchant Street at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.  On arrival first responders located an apartment where a fire had been started and appeared to have been put out.

Police said they found the apartment’s occupant near the scene.

The occupant left the apartment without calling for assistance, police said.

There were no injuries or evacuations.
