The Reed boys golf team wrapped up a perfect run through the High Desert League tournament schedule with a title on Wednesday at Wildcreek.
The Raiders carded a season-low score of 400 to finish first in front of Reno (418), McQueen (422), Spanish Springs (440) and North Valleys (511). Hug does not have enough golfers to turn in a team score.
Jayce Robinson and Nate Daylo bot fired a pair of 75s to lead the Raiders and share medalist honors with McQueen’s Collin Daly.
Brandon Foreman (78), Jimmy Harris (82) and Cade Baker (90) made up the rest of Reed’s score.
Logan Cox (81) and Nick Frankoski (82) led Spanish Springs. They were followed by Pat Penrod and Paynve Avera, both of whom turned in identical 92s. Chase Martin shot a 93.
It’s now on to the regional tournament for the league’s top four teams: Reed, Reno, McQueen and Spanish Springs. Those squads will have to deal with Galena, the Sierra League champ and favorite going in.
The top two teams at the regional tournament will advance to state along with the top five individual finishers who aren’t on one of the top two teams.
The two-day tournament starts Monday at ArrowCreek and wraps up Tuesday at Somersett.
