Opening Ceremonies will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 9 at the Sands Regency Hotel Casino, and Closing Ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 27
Anyone 50 years of age and better can compete in sports such as track & field, swimming, badminton, mini golf, go karts, bowling, and more. To register, or for more information including a schedule of events, visit Reno.gov/SeniorGames or call 775-657-4602. Prospective participants can also send an email to SeniorServices@Reno.gov with the subject “Sign me up for SSG!” to sign up.
“Senior Games is just one way the City of Reno supports seniors, locally and regionally,” says Ward 5 Reno City Councilmember Neoma Jardon, who is also a member of the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee. “Keeping seniors active and engaged is critical to our success as a community.”
There will be opportunities to compete individually, as a doubles team, or as part of a team of five or more. Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded.
The registration fee is $25 per person, plus an additional $10-$30 per-sport fee. Registration includes a Summer Games T-shirt, sport bag, and a Closing Ceremonies luncheon/dance ticket.
The Closing Ceremonies luncheon and dance is free for competitors and will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 27 at the Sands Regency. Additional tickets for the Closing Ceremonies ($15-$25), T-shirts ($10), and ballcaps ($15) are available for purchase. You do not need to be a Summer Games participant to purchase these items.
