For a city that’s in the heart of Northern Nevada’s economic rebirth, the City of Sparks isn’t boastful about the small town community feel that residents cite as one of the main reasons for choosing Sparks, Nevada. That is until now. The new City of Sparks infographic highlights the attributes of Sparks that drive industry, community character and economic vitality.
“Sparks has a lot to be proud of and our new infographic is paving the way for us to show and tell why Sparks is a vibrant community perfectly poised for our region’s new economic reality,” said Sparks Mayor Geno Martini. “As we continue to tell our story, this will also be a vital tool for our national outreach efforts.”
Ninety percent of information transmitted to the brain is visual and 65 percent of the population are visual learners.1 Increasingly, infographics are being used to showcase facts that are known or little known in an effort to educate audiences. Three priorities were identified when developing the infographic were to tell the Sparks story visually, encourage engagement with the city, drive more interest to the website and support efforts in telling the Sparks story nationally.
Highlights of the infographic focus on its economic position including 1,030 acres of zoned commercial space, 2,080 acres of zoned industrial space and 15-minute travel time to the Reno-Tahoe Industrial Center. Continuing the city’s focus on tourism attractions such as Victoriana Square, Sparks Marina, Last Chance Joe, the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off, Hot August Nights and the Sparks Hometowne Christmas Parade are included. A focus on community character with more than 50 parks, the largest outdoor artificial turf sports complex in the United States and entertainment attractions including The Legends at Sparks Marina.
The project was funded through the City of Sparks Tourism and Marketing Committee which administers a portion of the City’s hotel occupancy room tax and is restricted to marketing related projects.
