Spanish Springs is in second place after the first round of the 4A North regional tournament on Tuesday at Genoa Lakes.
The High Desert League champion Cougars turned in a collective score of 355, 11 strokes back of Reno. McQueen (356) is one stroke behind Spanish Springs. Bishop Manogue (376) is in fourth, Wooster (411) is fifth and Damonte Ranch (452) is in sixth.
Emma Gilmore shot a 78 for Spanish Springs, the second best individual score. McQueen’s Megan Gaskill owns the overall lead after firing a 75.
Jada McAlister (81), Katie Gilbertson (98) and Ciara Hornbarger (98) rounded out Spanish Springs’ card.
Reed’s Kaitlin Fleiner is tied for sixth overall, with McAlister, after shooting an 81.
Abby Homer also shot a 102 and Darby Grow finished with 108 for the Raiders.
The regional tournament concludes Wednesday at Washoe Golf Course.
The top two teams, and top five finishers not on a top-two team, will punch a ticket to the state tournament next week at Eagle Valley in Carson.
