It’s that bizarre time of the year when teams are alternating between relatively meaningless tournament games and hugely important 4A North games.
The first round of regional contests last Tuesday didn’t provide much drama, but that will change starting this week.

1. Galena Grizzlies (4-0, 1-0)
The Grizzlies faced little resistance on their way to a Rail City Classic title over the weekend.
Some of that may be the competition, some of that may be the fact Dillon Voyles is a beast.
Galena throttled North Valleys last Tuesday.

2. Bishop Manogue Miners (3-1, 1-0)
Manogue took second at its own tournament this weekend, the Wild West Shootout.
On their way to the title game, the Miners dropped Spanish Springs thanks to a big second half.

3. Spanish Springs Cougars (2-2, 1-0)
First-team all-league forward Josh Prizina’s absence was felt this weekend as the Cougars took fourth in the Wild West Shootout.
Without their big man, the Cougars picked up an impressive win over St. Mary’s (Stockton, Calif.) in the opener before falling in the next two.
Spanish Springs goes to Carson Tuesday night.

4. Carson Senators (0-3, 0-0)
The reigning regional champs dropped a trio of non-league tournament games in San Francisco over the weekend. That wasn’t the story.
The story was Tez Allen recording a double-double in all three, including a 42-point showing in a 71-70 loss to Righetti (Santa Maria, Calif.).

5. McQueen Lancers (4-1, 1-0)
McQueen went 3-1 in the Rail City Classic after a 71-51 win over Douglas last Tuesday.
