The first slate of games did not reveal any crazy surprises.
Nonetheless, we digress.

1. Bishop Manogue Miners (1-0, 1-0)
The Miners won with a football score in their opener.
They beat Hug, 73-6.
Last week: 1
2. Reno Huskies (3-1, 1-0)
It’s almost weird seeing the Huskies without a zero in the loss column this early in the season.
There are two contributing factors. This team will take a slight step back this year. And the loss came to a really good St. Ignatius (San Francisco, Calif.) team in the High Sierra Invitational.
Last week: 2
3. Reed Raiders (1-0, 1-0)
It was just one game against an opponent that will take its lumps this year, but the Raiders’ surplus of talent was on full display in last Tuesday’s 68-18 home win over Damonte.
Last week: 4
4. McQueen Lancers (3-1, 1-0)
The Lancers’ undefeated start ended on Friday with a 45-36 loss to Heritage (Littleton, Colo.).
Last week: 3
5. North Valleys Panthers (3-2, 1-0)
Bob Bentley’s squad is incredibly young and inexperienced. So a 3-2 start, including a regional win over Galena in the opener is pretty impressive.
Last week: NR
Outside looking in: Galena Grizzlies
