The High Desert League isn’t providing as much drama.
Spanish Springs is already two games clear of second-place Reno, and four games clear of third-place McQueen.

1. Spanish Springs Cougars (13-4, 8-0)
The Cougars weren’t dominant last week.
They pulled away from McQueen late and hung on against North Valleys to remain the last 4A North team without a regional loss.

2. Carson Senators (6-9, 6-2)
What a week for the defending regional champs.
Carson beat Galena by four then Bishop Manogue by three. Those two teams provide the biggest threat to the Senators’ Sierra League title aspirations.

3. Bishop Manogue Miners (11-7, 6-2)
Manogue can’t sulk on the loss at Carson for long.
The Miners go to Galena Tuesday night for another pivotal contest.

4. Galena Grizzlies (14-4, 6-2)
Galena helps make up a three-way tie atop the Sierra League standings. That only adds to the intrigue of Tuesday’s game against Bishop Manogue.

5. Reno Huskies (13-4, 6-2)
Reno hasn’t traditionally been a team known for its offense, but it hung 84 points on Reed Friday night.
