Four Reed athletes signed national letters of intent on Thursday afternoon during a signing ceremony held in the school’s gym.
Gymnast Brennan Pantazis was the lone athlete to sign at an NCAA Div. I school. He will compete for Penn State next year.
Gymnastics is not a Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association sanctioned sport, but many athletes in Northern Nevada compete at the club level.
McKenna Kester will play soccer at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Ore. – about 50 miles northeast of Boise, Ida. The Chucks went 11-7-2 this year in the Northwest Athletic Conference, missing the postseason by six points.
Kayla Kelly will also play soccer in the NWAC for Highline Community College in Des Moines, Wash. (south Seattle). The Thunderbirds went 17-3-0 this fall before falling the conference title game to Peninsula. Former Raiders Kennady Whitehead and Isabel Vega played on that Peninsula team.
Dayton Farrow rounded out the signees. Farrow, one of the best players on Reed’s soccer team this fall, will continue his career at Linfield — a Div. III school outside Portland, Ore.
