A new class is being offered for teens interested in learning CPR/First Aid skills in order to become a safe and successful babysitter. Boys and girls ages 15 and older can take part in the one-day course on Saturday, May 20, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Alf Sorensen Community Center, 1400 Baring Blvd.
A Certified Red Cross Instructor will teach child and infant CPR with first aid. A final exam will be given at the end of class. Students who successfully complete the course and pass the exam will receive a printable certified Red Cross certificate valid for 2 years.
To register for the CPR/First Aid for Babysitters course, contact the Sparks Parks and Recreation Department at (775) 353-2385 or go online to www.cityofsparks.us. The cost is $72 or $60 for residents of Sparks. Financial assistance is available for teens who cannot otherwise participate due to financial limitations.
