The Railroaders jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first half off the foot of Cesar Hernandez but couldn’t hold on in the second as they fell to South Tahoe 3-2 on Friday evening at home.
It was the only game of the week for Sparks who was coming off of a five-game winning streak.
The boys began a busy week on Monday when they traveled to Truckee. They will hit the road today in Fallon before hosting North Tahoe in a big game on Friday afternoon.
Sparks (11-4-1, 8-2-1) now sits in third place in the 3A Northern league behind Truckee and first place North Tahoe.
Reed
The Reed boys soccer team picked up a much needed 2-1 win at Reno Saturday afternoon. The two teams held each other scoreless in the first half before trading goals in the second. The Raiders ultimately won a shootout 8-4 to secure the win.
The win snapped a three game losing streak for Reed (7-9, 3-4) who face an uphill battle to reach the playoffs as they sit in fourth place in the High Desert League.
Reed plays at McQueen today and will host Hug on Saturday afternoon.
Spanish Springs
First place Spanish Springs hasn’t lost a match since Sept. 23, but were tested Saturday at home when they battled North Valleys to a scoreless draw.
The Cougars now prepare for a huge match against Hug today on the road. The two teams share the top spot in the High Desert League at 4-1-2.
Spanish Springs will round out its regular season schedule Saturday against Reno before hosting rival Reed next Wednesday.
