Robert ‘Bob’ Grassini
Bob was born on October 26, 1931 to Enrico and Jennie Grassini in Sparks. In 1950, he was stationed in Germany as a sergeant in the army during the Korean War. After serving, Bob met Donna Slaughter in 1954, proposed in the Buckets of Blood Saloon in Virginia City and six weeks later they were married.
Bob was a humble man, respected by all for his hard work, generosity and wise guy sense of humor. He often referred to Donna as “Slick” when he was in a particularly mischievous mood.
During their 63 years of marriage, Bob and Donna traveled all over – pulling their trailer throughout the United States and Canada, visiting Bob’s ancestral home in Lucca, Italy and swimming (or watching Donna swim) the blue waters of Lake Almanor, Lake Siskiyou, and Kauai. Family camping trips involved hiking, fishing, good food (Bob’s signature spaghetti sauce) and lots of card playing.
Bob passed away on December 10, 2017 at the age of 86. He is survived by the love of his life Donna, daughter Roxanna and spouse Keith, son Dino and spouse Stephen, daughter Janine and spouse Buck, son Stacey and spouse Melody and five grandchildren Leah, Rachael, Austen, Madeline and Isabella. Bob was a man of many riches – leaving behind a legacy of love of family, kindness, and adventure.
No funeral services. A celebration will be held in late spring 2018 to share stories, jokes, food and games in honor of Bob’s life and spirit.
