
Reed senior Jorge Moreno ran away from the competition this weekend during the annual Rotary Track and Field event this at Reed High School. Over 30 high schools competed in what is the largest event of the regular season. Moreno pictured above competing in the 110 meter hurdles won three events; the 300 meter hurdles; 110 meter hurdles and the 100 meter dash.
After a 6-5 win over West, Calif. on March 24, the Reed baseball team finished its Southern California tournament early last week.
The boys continued their strong play on Monday by putting up seven first inning runs against Oregon’s Newberg and cruising to a 13-1 win. Reed banged out nine hits, including three from Isaac Tecson who also added two RBIs. Kameron Soubiea turned in a nice five inning performance on the hill and scattered six hits while striking out six.
The Raiders fell 4-1 later in the day to La Habra, Calif. despite seven hits in the game. Brandon Biggs and Trae DeLeon each led the team with two singles in the loss.
Will Bannister got the Raiders back on track the next morning and pitched seven scoreless innings while giving up just four hits and striking out five in a 3-0 win over Katella, Calif. Briggs and Tanner Clabaugh provided the offense for Reed with RBI singles.
Reed (8-5, 2-2) returned to Northern Nevada and played at Douglas yesterday. They will host the Tigers tomorrow at 3:45 p.m. before welcoming Wooster to its field on Saturday morning.
