Several of the most famous Swamp Dwellers in Washington reared their heads last week when an impeachment inquiry was launched by Speaker Pelosi.
They would be Pelosi herself, Adam Schiff and Chuck Schumer. All three called for the impeachment of President Trump based on a Whistleblower complaint. That complaint was mostly “hear say” rather than firsthand knowledge by the Whistleblower. Even “loose lip” Maxine Waters got into the act when she suggested that not only should Trump be imprisoned, but that he should be put into solitary confinement. This is the same Waters who has shouted for impeachment for a number of years before the Democrats got her under control. She is the same person who called for her followers to constantly harass Republicans no matter where they were, especially when dining out.
Pelosi showed her political chops by not calling for a floor vote in Congress which would have given the accused party the chance to call witnesses and issue subpoenas. Then she snatched the inquiry from Jerry Nadler’s committee and gave it to the unworthy Adam Schiff committee. Schiff, who has a long history of prevarication, was quick to write his version of the famous phone call on which the inquiry was predicated and read it aloud into the record during the DNI hearing.
Since Pelosi authorized the inquiry before she had read the actual official transcript of the phone call between Trump and the President of Ukraine she lost most of her fragile credibility.
To counter the charges the Republican side has been showing television clips of Nadler, Schumer and Pelosi during the Clinton impeachment proceedings in which all three said Clinton’s impeachment would set a very bad precedent for future Presidents.
Last week the New York Times, which is not an ally of President Trump, published a story that revealed the Whistleblower had contacted members of Schiff’s staff as how to proceed. Schiff has denied any personal contact with the Whistleblower, but it is unlikely that the staff made the decision to tell the Whistleblower to retain a lawyer before taking the complaint to the Inspector General. When the complaint was made public it was revealed that it was done in legalize style and on stationary tied to a group that George Soros funds.
Point man for the Republican response to the inquiry is the President himself. He has minced no words in his attack on Schiff, the Bidens and Pelosi. He has been ably abetted by his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, who has been on the Ukraine corruption case for a number of months.
One savvy Washington Vet has an interesting take on why the Democrats are trying to fast track the impeachment process, which will likely go nowhere in the Senate. His theory is that the inquiry will rattle the Stock Market and hopefully lead to a Recession which will counter Trump’s strongest reason for re-election which is the economy***.
One of the most famous Swamp Dwellers of all time, Hillary Clinton, is on the scene again as she is making the television rounds to promote her new book, co-authored by her daughter, in which she spends most of her time rooting for impeachment and stating that Trump is an illegitimate President. By saying that she is inferring the Electoral College is illegitimate in tallying the votes that went against her. She has a long list of reasons why she lost the Presidential race and has blamed everything from earthworms to sun spots for the loss. To find out the real reason for her defeat it has been suggested that she purchase a full length mirror and stand in front of it. She also probably misses the days when she was Secretary of State when she operated the most famous “Pay for Play Scheme” ever seen in Washington. That was, if you wanted to have an audience with the Secretary of State, you first contributed to the Clinton Foundation or booked her husband Bill to give a very expensive talk.
For the record, news that came out recently is Hillary’s illegally erased E-mails are still under investigation as is the genesis of the Mueller Report.
In all the controversy surrounding Trump’s phone call, the rallying cry for most Democrats is that Trump’s phone call “Trump tried to manufacture dirt on an opponent”. The fact of the matter is that Biden manufactured the dirt himself in quid pro quo by withholding funds until the prosecutor on his son’s case was fired. It is also notable that Biden kicked off his campaign in an effort to restore high moral ground to the Presidency.
NVCondor says
You would have to go all the way back to the Nixon administration to see the number of investigations, indictments, and convictions that have been perpetrated by Trump’s “best people”. So, Harry’s recap on his Fox viewing habits could easily be mistaken for Orwell’s “1984”.
Harry’s swamp consists of elected representatives that know and defend the Constitution. They are the true patriots. And the “loose lips” dig can easily be construed as racist.
Trump pressuring and withholding defense funding in exchange for some kind of bogus, and discredited “investigation”, of a political opponent, by the Ukranians is not defensible. It is clearly illegal and impeachable. And the depths of this episode also include the Vice President, the Attorney General, and the Secretary of State. Yes, the slime in Trump’s swamp is deep.
