The holiday season is underway with the annual Scheels Turkey Trot happening at the Sparks Marina followed by a day of football and likely lots of eating. It seems like all of holiday décor came out early this year in stores, maybe to encourage shoppers to get their gifts before they sell out or become unavailable like what happened with the supply chain last year. Crafts for Christmas at the Nugget Casino Resort

Looking for something to do with the family on Thanksgiving? Head over to the second floor of the Nugget for four days of activities, holiday food/drinks, and plenty of vendor booths to buy a locally made gift or two from. Santa Claus and his elves at the Playful Potter on 1351 E. Prater Way invites local kids to visit Santa in his festive workshop and visit with the Big Guy himself, get a free photo taken, enjoy some light snacks, and paint an ornament. Whether commemorating a child’s first Christmas or starting a family tradition, the Playful Potter is the perfect place to go to kick off the holiday season. Nightmare Before Christmas Trivia Night

Are you a Nightmare Before Christmas fan? Then prove it by participating in a trivia night about the beloved Tim Burton movie at the Playful Potter the same evening as Breakfast with Santa. This is open to all ages, and a $12 prepaid seat includes access into the studio, a trivia round, light snacks, and a ticket into a raffle. Exclusive painting project designs and items are also available for an additional fee.
Paparazzi Going Out of Business Blow-Out Sale

The Paparazzi jewelry store on 2782 William Morby Drive is going out of business, and all jewelry pieces must go. Choose from a variety of necklaces, earrings, adjustable rings, and bracelets ranging from $2-$3.75. Nickel and lead-free options are also available.
Quilt Collage Holiday Edition at Copper Cat Studio
Nov. 29, 12-3:30 p.m.
Make your own unique handmade gift with certified quilt collage creator Kim Maier at the Copper Cat Studio on 300 Kresge Lane where she will show students how to use bright, bold fabric to create holiday-themed pattern such as a Santa, snowman, or a deer (students get to keep all three). No sewing is required, and the finished product is 16”x20”. Supplies are included in the $95-102 fee to attend, and this is a work-at-your-own pace class but if you don’t finish there then you’ll have everything you need to complete your project at home. www.coppercatstudio.com
Northern Nevada Medical Center Health Fair
Dec. 1, 7-10 a.m.
Go into this holiday feeling good or get your health questions answered at next Thursday’s community health fair hosted by the NNMC on 2375 E Prater Way. A battery of tests is also available (although they cannot be billed to insurance) such as Chemistry and Lipid panels for $20 each, thyroid tests for $35, prostate specific antigen tests ($35), electrocardiograms ($35), and more. Maker Family Meetup at the Generator
