SPARKS CITY HALL AND PARKS AND RECREATION ANNOUNCE NEW OFFICE HOURS FOR 2024
Sparks City Hall and Sparks Parks and Recreation Department are set to implement revised office hours in 2024. Beginning January 2, 2024, Sparks City Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Sparks Parks and Recreation Department will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, remaining closed on Fridays.
The City is changing its office hours to improve its ability to promptly address email and phone communications. City Hall and the Parks and Recreation Department are currently open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., which creates challenges in responding to email and phone inquiries in a timely manner. The City hopes this change will help ensure efficient and timely communication with residents and stakeholders, no matter the form of that communication.
ALF SORENSEN COMMUNITY CENTER CLOSED DEC. 26-JAN. 8
The City of Sparks is working on an HVAC replacement project at Alf Sorensen Community Center. For the safety of our visitors and staff, Alf Sorensen will be closed to the public from December 26 through January 8 during active construction hours, Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As construction is being done during daytime hours, those registered for the evening youth basketball program, scheduled to begin in January, will be allowed access to the gym via an alternative entrance. Directional signs will be in place.
Open basketball will also be available in the gym on Saturdays, as active construction will not occur on weekends. Pickleball will be canceled through January 8. Regular gym hours are scheduled to resume on January 9.
Staff will be available by calling (775) 353-2385 beginning January 3.
The pool at Alf Sorensen is currently closed for a construction project to replace the pool filter. The pool is expected to reopen in mid-January once the project has been completed.
REGISTRATION OPEN FOR SPRING 2024 volleyball LEAGUES
The United States Youth Volleyball League (USYVL) is pleased to announce that registration is open for our 2024 Spring Leagues. These signature programs provide a fun, safe, and supervised environment for boys and girls to learn and play volleyball.
The Reno USYVL runs from April 9– June 1, 2024, on Tuesdays and Saturdays at Neil Road Recreation Center in Reno.
Our eight-week Fall Leagues provide instruction to boys and girls ages 7 to 15 that is designed to teach basic volleyball skills in a positive environment. The leagues operate twice per week beginning the second week of September and ending the first week of November. Practices and games operate in a coed format and offer participants the opportunity to develop self-esteem and confidence.
Programs fill quickly, so register early to reserve a spot for your child. The registration fee includes a uniform t-shirt and participation medal. Visit our online registration page to locate a program in your area.
