Properly Subversive
Today the term “Storm Trooper” is most associated with the highly ineffective bad guys in the Star Wars movie franchise. Its origin, however, comes from anything but something goofy or cartoonish. It stems from the “Sturmabteilung” (literally “Storm Division” in German) that played a significant role in Adolf Hitler’s rise to power. They provided thuggish protection for Nazi rallies oppressing Jews and opposing parties.
They wore “Braunhemden” – brown shirts.
Hamas supporters in America look to me like Brownshirts in the making.
In this day and age, they express open hate for Jews (I didn’t see that coming, did you?) They scream “Free Palestine” and call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, but justify Hamas for its Oct. 7 attack on Israeli civilians. They tear down posters of hostages taken by Hamas because they say it’s fake propaganda. They have threatened synagogues and Jews around the nation under the guise of peaceful protests. This month they stormed a Christmas party in Detroit for a progressive congressman who publicly supports Israel.
Look, there is no question that what Hamas did on Oct. 7 was terrorism. I’m not saying anything else about the turmoil in the Middle East. It’s a historical mess. But let’s not lose sight of the clear fact that the acts committed on Oct. 7 by Hamas fighters were war crimes of the first order and by any definition. This is confirmed by multiple impartial observers on the scene and body cams worn by the Hamas attackers. Human rights groups report undeniable evidence of post mortem torture and rape.
Here’s a post from my friend Amy Tarkanian who was invited to watch footage of the Hamas atrocities collected by the Israeli Defense Forces.
After seeing it with her own eyes, she writes:
“Certain scenes will stay forever embedded in my brain. There are no words to describe the evil and torment that Hamas has forced upon so many innocent people. They are demons inflicting hell on Earth. These sick and deranged monsters gleefully murder and torture in the name of religion. I left the screening feeling completely numb and horrified. I was so shocked that I couldn’t cry until later that night. For those of you who are calling for a cease-fire, I wish that the world could view what I saw. It would change your mind in a heartbeat unless you have been brainwashed and are soulless. Until Hamas puts its weapons down, then, unfortunately, Israel has no other option but to continue to fight for their freedoms and lives.”
Beware anyone who supports Hamas. They are atrocity deniers and, if we let them, the potential Brownshirts of 2024.
ONE MORE THING
I usually like to end my column with something lighthearted. But I’m not in the mood. There is Evil afoot. Stay vigilant and, like a good Nevadan, standup for the little guy. Always.
See you next year.
