
On 05/17/2025 at approximately 2:06am, Sparks Police Emergency Dispatch received a report of a single vehicle accident into a power pole in the area of the 3100 block of Vista Blvd.
Upon arrival, officers located a Toyota sedan that crashed into a power pole in the center median. The crash completely severed the power pole causing a live power line to fall into the roadway.
During the investigation it was determined the driver showed signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested for the listed charges below. After he was cleared medically, the driver was transported to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and booked accordingly without incident.
Due to the damage to the power pole, NV Energy responded to repair the damage. As a result, power in the immediate area was impacted by the outage.
The suspect was arrested for the following charges:
- DUI 1st – NRS 484C.110
- Minor in Possession of Alcohol NRS 20020.2
- Failure to Maintain Lane NRS 484B.221
