On July 18, 2025, at approximately 11:42 p.m., officers from the Sparks Police Department and Sparks Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus motorcycle crash at the intersection of O’Callaghan Drive and E. Greenbrae Drive.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a juvenile was riding a non-street-legal motorcycle and attempted to pass a vehicle in the intersection. The vehicle was unable to stop in time and struck the motorcycle, ejecting the juvenile rider.
The juvenile sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
The Sparks Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded and has taken over the investigation. The case remains active and ongoing.

The Sparks Police Department would also like to remind the public that operating dirt bikes and electric motorcycles on public roadways is illegal within the City of Sparks. These vehicles are not street-legal and pose significant safety risks to both riders and others on the road.
